Who we are

SJ Malan (CA ANZ)

Founded by an Australia-based Financial Controller specialising in financial reporting, process improvement, and business automation. 

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of business experience.  He started in Big4 Audit for 3 years and then gained over 12 years financial reporting experience in large and small businesses (including ASX listed global companies) across multiple industries (financial services, banking, asset management, mining, engineering and construction).

He is skilled at financial accounting, analysis, reporting, modelling, process improvement, automation, transformation, project management, relationship management, leadership and communication. 

Experienced in many ERP finance platforms (Xero, MYOB, Sage, Workday, Oracle, Hyperion, OneStream, SAP, Concur, Zycus, Blackline, CaseWare) and leading reporting tools (Workiva, Fathom, Power BI, CDM, JIRA, Confluence).

Growing vs. Scaling

The difference between Growing and Scaling your business:

Growing a business is linear:  

A business adds more resources and cost (capital, people, technology) hoping to increase its income as a result.  But it takes a lot of cash and resources to sustain constant growth.

Scaling a business is exponential:    

Income increases exponentially, while costs only increase incrementally.  Most businesses don't design their processes to scale.  Some even try to scale inefficient processes, leading to business failure.

Love:

Serve:

42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  (NIV)
